I’m going to start recapping our #fresnophotog meetings here through these articles so everyone who maybe lives too far away to physically come to a meeting or may have just been busy and couldn’t come to one… can check back here, review at your own pace, & not miss a beat!!
So this month we met in the cute little back room at the Revue Coffee Shop in Tower District! It was soo so exciting to see so many new friendly faces & come together sipping the chillest coffee (you should seriously try the whisky caramel latte… freakiiiin YUM!!). And the focus was on reflecting on 2018 (what worked, what didn’t, what were our biggest lessons learned, etc) & goal setting/ planning for 2019 (because dreams without a plan will probably never happen)!!!
I encourage you to download the exact PDF guide that we went off of & go through the questions yourself! It’s awesome to look back on how much more we know now than at the beginning of the year. It’s also important to understand your definition of “success” (so you’re not just working aimlessly & not feeling “successful”), to figure out what you’re NOT going to do (like saying “yes” to a bride that’s not right for you, then missing out on a bride who would have been a perfect fit!!), & declare your numbers of annual income (and maybe follower count) that you’re trying to attain (so you have clear and actionable goals to work towards)!

Then we went into breaking down next year by the months and figuring out how we’re going to stay ahead of the seasons (aka: if you want to post content for Valentines day… you better get started on it right now!!). Go through each month and write down how many weddings you already have booked/ how much money that will make… next, figure out how many more weddings you need to book in order to pay all of your bills and whatnot… and add in some time for self-care/vacations!! And figure out which holidays or events are important to your brand and plan time to create styled shoots or mini sessions so that you can stay ahead of schedule! (for example: getting family Christmas cards done in October so you’re not stressing over editing/returning them super quickly)!
Hopefully this helps ya guys feel a little more organized & intentional with your new year coming up (I know it helped a lot of us at the meeting)!!
The last part of the meeting we went over the vision for the #fresnophotogs group as a whole for 2019.
So up until this point, the meetings have been pretty sporadic (meeting at a pizza place one month, then a bar, then a coffee shop, etc). It’s been nice to have these little “meet ’n greets” & put faces to the instagram handles on our phone screens…. BUT the meetings felt very unorganized & it was hard for people to actually plan to attend them when the date/time was always changing month to month.
Sooooo for 2019, this group will be transforming into something a little more intimate & intentional. Starting in January we will be meeting at my home in Fresno & diving deeper into a new industry-specific topic each month (posing, contracts, taxes, client experience, etc). That being said… if I, Toni, have not personally met you before then you will not be able to attend. Everybody is still welcome!! You’ll just have to meet up with me for coffee or something before I hand out my home address ;)) (Pro Tip for those of you who haven’t met me yet: I’m pretty busy, especially now.. but if someone offers to buy me coffee & chat for a bit… I pretty much always can find a way to make room in my schedule for ya!).
We’ll still be doing our community workshops (Winter Workshop is this weekend friends!! And the ‘Til Death Workshop still has 2 spots open!! Check it out here!) & get together for fun community things like walking Christmas tree lane… which everyone (including strangers!!) will be invited to lol!! And for the people who live super far away & can’t physically make it to the meetings… we’ll be putting up the content for review here and on our insta @fresnophotogs!!
I sent out a survey to get a little more insight on what you guys want to see from this group & pretty much everyone has agreed that intimate monthly meetings that are on the same day and at the same time every month will be better (I’ll be releasing which day/time we’ll pick for next month soon)! You guys also expressed that you’re excited for the @fresnophotogs instagram to continue being treated like a “feature” account for local talent, we’ll do fun insta story takeovers, & you’re enjoying the current group DM that acts as a resource for finding local 2nd photographers.
I’m SO glad that you all have responded so well to this community & can’t wait to continue growing with you all in 2019!
I hope you enjoyed this review of the meeting & downloaded the PDF so you can reflect through the questions at your own pace!
If you have any questions at all, feel free to reach out to us! And make sure you sign up for the email list here so you don’t miss out on any info on the meetings or upcoming events!!
WE LOVE YOU GUYS
