May 16th, 2020 was suppose to be Irene + Eric’s big Yosemite wedding day at Rush Creek Lodge (Yosemite National Park), but due to Covid19, they had to postpone their big wedding day for the fall. But instead of letting go of their special date due to Corona… they decided to have a Yosemite Welcome Sign Elopement instead (mainly, because that was the only place we could get into with all of the closures lol)! Surrounded by their pastor, Eric’s parents, & me (the photog lol)! :)))) #lovesnotcancelled
The Yosemite Welcome Sign Elopement:
We allll woke up at the butt crack of dawn, enjoyed the beautiful blue/pink sunrise on the drive up, & found the perfect spot to set up the macrame arch :))) We helped Irene slip into her dress, put on Eric’s boutonniere, they shared the cutest first look with each other, & then exchanged gifts (the CUTEST custom wedding jacket that reads “the mountains are calling” made by @lovefrommimosa + galaxy mugs for communion made by: @coywolf_studio)!
Then it was time to walk down the little hill to their ceremony site (which consisted of a copper arch from my house + the sweetest macrame piece made by @createdbysomeonesmom) :)))) Next up, they shared communion (APPLE JUICE btw, not a Corona LOL!) + tied their rope as a tribute to Ecclesiastes 4:12 (“a cord of three strands is not easily broken”).
The pastor beautifully shared the importance of love, marriage, & God. And Irene and Eric shared the most special vows (complete with the story of how the two “bears” found each other + fell in love;))) ***and many tears were swept up by their embroidered handkerchiefs. :)))
Then, they signed the marriage license to make it officially official + shared the sweetest first dance in front of the Yosemite Welcome Sign!! :))))
After that, they enjoyed their cute, gluten free brunch (made by @easyylivin) in front of the Yosemite Welcome Sign with all 6 of us! We toasted sparkling cider to Eric’s dad’s mini speech + talked about their hopes for the future (& how crazy everything is with corona right now lol)!!
Eric’s parents hung up a “just married” sign to the back of their car & we drove down to a Vista Point to take a few more sunny photos & then it was time to go our separate ways & (i’m pretty sure) we all took naps lol!!

THANK YOU for letting me be apart of such a special moment for you guys. I’ve literally neverrrr experienced Yosemite be so quiet that you can hear the birds chirping (there’s normally the hum of cars & chatter). But I’m so excited that you guys are going to get the best of both worlds — a special, intimate Yosemite Welcome Sign Elopement PLUS your big party celebration, once the venue opens again. :))) Sooo so much fun & such a perfect example of how you can still incorporate wedding traditions into an elopement setting!
Can’t wait to see you guys again for the big wedding! Until then…. I’ll just be over here reliving this special day through these photos lol! xoxox
