Top Book Recs for Creatives in Their Twenties

February 2, 2019

I’ve wanted to write this list of my Top Book Recommendations for awhile.. because I freakin LOVE reading and learning new concepts and sharing them with others!!

How great is it that we no longer have to sit in class and take pre-req classes on stupid topics… we get to pick and choose exactly what we want to learn and read books (or search google) for exactly what we need. Yay no more wasted time!!

Now that we’re graduated from the typical school system… LIFE is our school. And everything you could ever want to learn is a book read or google search away!!

These books have helped me figure out what I wanna do, stay motivated, and have continuously reminded me of what’s important!

1. If you need motivation to turn your passions into a money making machine…

Crush It! Why NOW is the Time to Cash in on Your Passion by Gary V
(Gary will tell it to you straight, no chaser. His passion for business is contagious and reading this book will give ya a little kick in the butt to use social media to quit your full time job and follow your dreams… before it’s too late)!

2. If you’re confused on what your passion even is in the first place….

Road Map — The Get-It Together Guide for Figuring Out What to Do with Your Life by Roadtrip Nation
(I owe so much to this book, seriously. Me and my best friend studied it at Barnes & Noble the summer after we graduated, when we were alllll panicked because we still didn’t know what we wanted with our lives lol… it gives you a path through step by step exercises that expose your true passions for you and piece them together to create your own job… even if it doesn’t currently exist)!

3. If you’re STILL not convinced on what your passion is and need a little extra help to find it…

The Crossroads of Should and Must — Find and Follow Your Passion by Elle Luna
(Besides this book just being so aesthetically pleasing and relaxing to read… it’ll give ya the last little push over the edge you’ll need to finally wake up, stop wasting time, and follow your dreams)!

4. If you’ve figured out what your passion is… but you’re still holding yourself back from fear of failure…

Big Magic — Creative Living Beyond Fear by Elizabeth Gilbert
(I personally need lots of reminders that the creative process is a journey (not a destination)… and the way Elizabeth gives you permission to live your truth joyfully through whatever your creative process is (and in whatever stage you’re in)… it’s a literal breath of fresh air **I literally let my friends borrow it every chance I get**)!

5. If you’ve figured out what your passion is and are going at full steam ahead, but want to learn ways to work more efficiently…

The 4-Hour Workweek — Escape 9-5, Live Anywhere, And Join the New Rich by Tim Ferris
(I’m OBSESSED with Tim Ferris and would buy literally any book he wrote lol! This one gives you tangible and helpful suggestions on how to “batch” work and work smarter, not harder)!

6. Another one of my favorites… for EVERYBODY in their twenties (with a passion, or not lol)…

The Defining Decade — Why Your Twenties Matter and How to Make the Most of Them NOW by Meg Jay, PhD
(K idk why I didn’t realize a lotttt of the things in this book before I read it but it was freakin revolutionary for me & really helped me make better decisions about literally everything)!

7. BONUS BOOK that’s not even released yet but I KNOW it’s gonna be freakin amazing…..

Girl Stop Apologizing: A Shame-Free Plan for Embracing and Achieving Your Goals by Rachel Hollis
(everything that comes out of Rachel’s mouth is absolute GOLD and needs to be said LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK!!! She’s my freakin girl crush… so motivational, inspiring, real, and uplifting. She’s your “coach”, not your “cheerleader”! I’ll get back to you guys on how this books turns out when it’s finally released but I’m sure it’s gonna be amazing so you should pre-order it like me lol!!)

There it is, guys!! My list of favs! I’m actually so sooo excited to post these Top Book Recommendations… excited for you guys to read them… and for you guys to hopefully recommend some of your favorite books to me in return so I can keep adding more to the list!! :))

Happy reading lol!! xoxox
